The Action for Harmony Conference - 2024

Action for Harmony, a collaborative platform for all Hindu Organisations hosted an exemplary Conference in London. The event aimed to address the concerns, opportunities, and solutions for the Hindu community, drawing together over 300 attendees from 165 different organisations across the UK, representing various Mandirs, Sampradayas and Samaj.

The Action for Harmony conference aims to unite and empower the Hindu community in the United Kingdom by focussing on capacity building and tackling important challenges. The conference addressed the Samaj's concerns, emphasising the significance of building reform strategies while tackling individual issues within this framework.

This one-day conference acted as a catalyst for good change, establishing the groundwork for deeper ties within our diverse Hindu Samaj and developing a powerful and united voice for the community. The conference emphasised the importance of comprehensive solutions for addressing community-specific concerns over the long term, as well as an inclusive approach. By bringing together leaders, key volunteers, and participants from diverse sectors, the event enabled meaningful discourse and collaborative problem-solving.

This report summarises the event and identifies key next actions and projects that will drive community outcomes. To accomplish this, we will need the full support and involvement of a wide range of Hindu organisations (big and small) and individuals from our diaspora in the UK.

There should be no 'double standards' when addressing religiophobia, and combating it should not be a 'selective exercise' limited to only one or two religions. This principle should apply equally to fears directed at non-Abrahamic religions, as emphasised by India during its presentation at the United Nations in June 2022. Despite being one of the most peaceful and globally-contributing communities, Hindus have faced an unjustifiable level of criticism and persecution, to the point of endangerment in some regions of the world. Considering the invaluable contributions that Hinduism has made to the world, such as Yoga, Veganism, Meditation, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science, and more, it begs the question: Why do those harbouring silent prejudices fail to recognise this value? This website highlights various instances in which Hindus, Hinduism, and Sanatan Dharma have come under attack. Many of these incidents have gone unreported by mainstream media or, when reported, have been suppressed by all major search engines. An analysis conducted in 2022 revealed how Google promoted 'left'-biased news stories from specific publishers, including The Guardian and the BBC."
